Royalties

Royalties – Royalties are the payments that rights holders receive in exchange for the use of their music. Royalties are typically collected and paid out to the rights holders by Performing Rights Organisations (PROs). In addition to PROs, streaming royalties can be paid out by record labels or digital service providers (DSPs) like Spotify and Apple Music.

In some countries, music synchronised to TV shows, films (and sometimes even TV advertisements) can be subject to royalty payments from the music users to the rights holders.
