Distribution Right

Distribution right – The distribution right is the exclusive right granted to rights holders to control the distribution of their works to the public. This encompasses both digital (streaming platforms or digital downloads) and physical (CDs, vinyl, DVDs) forms of distribution.

Distribution rights may be managed by Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) or other rights management entities, which collect and distribute royalties on behalf of rights holders. They are protected under national copyright laws and international treaties.
