PRO (Performing Rights Organisation)

PRO (Performing Rights Organisation) – A Performing Rights Organisation (PRO) is an entity in each country that tracks and pays out royalties to its members whenever their music is publicly broadcast on the radio or TV, streamed online, downloaded, or played in public venues such as bars, supermarkets, shopping malls, hotels, and clubs. A PRO collects copyright royalties on behalf of songwriters, composers, performers and publishers by issuing licences (for a fee) to music users. These fees are then distributed as royalties to the rights holders.
