ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) – An ISRC code is a unique 12-character code assigned to a particular recording of a song that is being commercially released. The code allows the rights holder, in this case, labels, artists, and producers, to identify, track and collect royalties when the recording is played on the radio, streamed online, or sold as a download or physical product and collect royalties. ISRC codes are generated by national ISRC agencies or by digital distributors (DSPs) when uploading music to streaming services.
Each recording of the version will have its own ISRC code including remixes, live recordings and even music videos. The composition itself will have a ISWC code.
