Fair Use / Fair Dealing

Fair Use / Fair Dealing – The term “fair use” is not directly applicable in the European Union. Instead, the EU employs a concept known as “fair dealing”, which under EU copyright law permits limited use of copyrighted material without requiring permission from the rights holder(s), if the use meets specific criteria. Unlike “fair use,” which is a broader and more flexible standard used in United States, fair dealing in the EU is more restrictive and is defined by specific exceptions.
