Adaption Rights

Adaption Rights – Adaptation rights refer to the legal rights that allow the rights holder of a musical composition or song, to control and authorise the creation of derivative works based on the original. This can include creating a remix, rearrangement, translation of lyrics, or creating an instrumental version of a song.

In terms of synch, adaptation rights come into play if the music needs to be altered to fit the specific needs of the visual content. In the EU, adaptation rights are often managed by local Collective Management Organisations (CMOs).
