ISWC – The International Standard Musical Work Code (ISWC) is a unique identifier assigned to a musical work, meaning the composition, including the melody, lyrics, and harmony. Unlike, an ISRC code, which is assigned to a specific recording of a song, the ISWC does not change based on different recordings, versions or remixes.
The ISWC is primarily used in the management of music rights and royalties for composers, songwriters, and publishers. It ensures proper attribution and royalty distribution whenever the composition is used, such as in sync licensing or public performances.
