WHAT IS EinS?

In the fast growing and diversifying field of music licensing, eight project partners from all across the continent came together to form “Europe in Synch” (EinS). The organization aims to connect creatives from the audiovisual industries and arts, particularly by offering know-how in the quickly developing fields of synchronization, music licensing and music supervision. EinS wants to establish new networks and a better understanding of the needs and opportunities of the different industries that work with (licensed) music. Europe in Synch is co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme.

ACADEMY

Under the leadership of music supervisor Markus Linde, the EinS Academy is a capacity-building and in-depth educational offering specific to Synch, implementing three different types of activities: The EinS Workshops, the EinS Match-Making Sessions and the EinS Outreach.

The EinS Workshops continue the Europe in Synch – Music Moves Europe preparatory action format of the day-long workshops between music sector professionals and Catalysts from the client-side industries, examining in detail their particular project workflows: day-long workshops accompanied by a visual scribe, featuring two expert Catalysts and 10 music-side participants; while the Match-Making Events are designed to directly introduce music professionals to a wider number of professionals from film and advertising.

Finally, the EinS Outreach aims at taking the EinS team experts into film schools and other professional bodies that can benefit from tailor-made educational formats on Synch.

MISSIONS

The EinS Missions sees the EinS team make strategic prospecting “sorties” to non-music events, in the creative industries of film, television, advertising and gaming. These Missions serve the purpose of introducing the project “main event” ACT in SYNCH as well as the EinS Academy, inviting audio/visual and gaming professionals to it, while at the same time prospecting for more Catalysts for the EinS Academy workshops. Furthermore, it introduces EinS and the EinS platform as a go-to destination whenever any of them need to licence music, from virtually any European country or artist, and generally spreading the word on licensing best practices and how to go about synching more European Music.

Our resident export office partner, Music Estonia, will lead on this WP counting on the sectoral expertise of Eastaste in Hungary, as well as Markus Linde, Nis Bogvad, Nikolina Finska and Hannes Tschuertz to map the Mission events to be attended each project year.

ACT IN SYNCH

The Annual Act in Synch event will be announced shortly under the inspired guidance of Nis Bogvad, Copenhagen Film Music: a one-of-a-kind boutique festival, crossing keynote speakers from all industries involved (music, film, television, advertising and gaming) and featuring a top notch curated musical programme for launching new artists and new composers’ careers in synch.

PLATFORM

Welcome – You are already here! More than just a project website, this work-in-progress domain will also feature a blog that will serve both to promote new European talents in synch, business synch news and developments, trends, success stories and also a resource centre on basic business practices (ie. “how to synch”, legal advice etc.); as well as a resource centre for finding European partners (labels, publishers, composers) for your project.

This ongoing work will be undertaken by Croatian Rebel Studios, led by Nikolina Finska, with an all-female team of web creatives and service providers.

OBSERVATORY

Led by SIGIC, the EinS Observatory will initiate research practices looking at two fundamental aspects of Synchs in Europe: firstly, finding ways to measure European synch deals and placements within Europe and internationally; second, reporting on how different national practices impacts the number of works used and the potential obstacles to increasing EU works synched under blanket licenses; as well as country-by-country disparities with regards to public performance royalties income.

Towards this goal SIGIC will be hiring researcher Virgo Silamaa, former Director of Music Estonia and now a research consultant working with EMEE in Brussels, in order to ensure high professional standards by bringing in scientific expertise
